National exams, national precautions

Saleem writes about the measures the South Korean government have set for the national exams:

“Yesterday was a holiday here b/c 3rd grade high school students took the university entrance exam all across the country.
Get this – during the Korean listening and English listening portions of the exam (which all happened at the same time in the whole country), planes were not allowed to fly in or out of the airports!!
They actually stop air traffic during those times on that particular day!
And if students are going to be late to the place where they take the test, they can get a police escort to the test site!
I love the idea that massive hulks of metal cease to be hurled through the sky, all so the children might focus uninterrupted.”

I also heard that some kids can take the taxi for free to come to school on time. I too was amazed by the measures, as making these kind of costs seem hardly necessary for students in my home country. Why don’t just facilitate a isolated place to do the exam, and force kids to be on time?

It’s almost the same in China. Everyone has to take many cruel exams before he goes to a higher education.

This makes Taiwan look positively laid back. Never guessed that this moment would happen.

Just write down your name at the exams, and you can enter a university. Not a good one, but still.

In korea, the name of university may can change their entire life because of society preconception.
Somewhat terrible background system of korea!
