Shoot and share: Mobypicture

I am currently playing with a cool new webservice called Mobypicture. MobyPicture is an easy way to get photos from your mobile phone to where you want them on the internet. You just email your photos to MobyPicture and the photos are posted to the sites you use, from Tumblr, Twitter, Flickr to WordPress.

mobypicture.pngThe concept is simple, and I like it. After all, we all get tired of cross-posting the same things to different services! The installation is simple, I just had to enable the services (and supply passwords) and I was good to go! I currently enabled my Flickr and Twitter account on Moby. So you will probably some of my photo experiments in the future.

There is also a way to share feeds with friends, but that is not really clear to me yet. The site is still in beta, but everybody can signup. Check it here

    Good info there! I love trying web services too!

    I have no feed-reader installed so i am not so sure how to share feeds myself.

    Just signed up and tried it out, I quite like it, it seems to intergrate into wordpress very well. Good find, but I wonder how long it will last if more people don’t sign up for it and use it…

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for trying out Moby Picture! We’re working on a new version of the site that will have a lot of improvements, including easier to find RSS feeds. In the mean time, you can find a user’s RSS feed by going to their user page (e.g. http://www.mobypicture.com/index.php?cmd=userlog&ownerid=2153) and clicking on the RSS icon. Probably the easiest way to get to a user page is to just click on the user’s avatar when viewing one of their photos. My feed is http://www.mobypicture.com/rss/?p=publilog&u=2153.

    As you can see, my user id is 2153. If you know a user’s id, you can just replace mine with theirs to get their RSS feed.

    Group feeds are generated by a different address and unfortunately there’s no easy way to discover them – I’m afraid it’s a feature we’re basically just testing right now and won’t be totally opening it up to the public until the new site launches. For now you basically need to ask us or the group owner for the id number. Once you have it, you can get either an RSS or plain XML feed. For example:

    Simple use View Source to see the one line of HTML (the <script> line) you need. As always, replace my user id with your own. Replace user_id with group_id in the URL to view a group slideshow.
