New year and a new idea for the blog you are reading: I will share at least one blogpost a week with pictures taken with my mobile. Recently I’ve switched to a new mobile telephone giving me opportunity to walk around and share.
Twitter’s developers mentioned long time ago, something along the lines that there is not much chance that you will see a deer cross the street behind your computer. I’m re-inventing my definition of blogging by going mobile, hopefully spotting a few deers out there.
I’ve been thinking for a long time how to combine pictures with my blog, and I have settled on a simple experiment for now: I will capture various events with my mobile, but digest these photo’s to a weekly update. The frequency is important to me because I don’t want to broadcast a constant flow of single pictures. In sets however, I think they might be more meaninful to me. Hope you enjoy these snapshots!
Some can wonder whether this ‘new level’ is up, or downwards. For the purpose of having a personal blog, (successfully) sharing life moments in an easier way seem to be a step forward.
Technique
I’m using an Android G1 for the pictures, combined with a China mobile data plan. It’s about 2 euro’s for 180mb. The software to upload to the internet is made by Mathijs van Abbe, a friend from Amsterdam – Moby Picture. After I take the picture, it is automatically put in a weekly blog-post using a unreleased plugin from Sam Charrington, his blog can be found here.
