Joop (Dutch) is married to Suna (Korean) and they live together in Shanghai China. He works at unitedstyles.com.
Background:
Joop (1983) grew up in Geldermalsen, a village in the middle of the Netherlands. He visited China for the first time in 1999, together with a friend from elementary school. Impressed with Beijing city, Joop’s eyes were opened towards Asia.
Back in Netherlands Joop moved to Amsterdam and did a bachelor study in IT whilst working at web development company Mirabeau in Amsterdam. He also did an intern at citigroup in Barcelona. Afterwards, Joop moved to Sweden and received a master degree in business administration. During this study, he met his wife, Suna, whom he went to South Korea for an exchange study at KDI school in Seoul, followed with an intern at ING insurance South Korea.
After graduating he met Marc van der Chijs and joined Spilgames as Business Development Manager in Shanghai, where he worked on social web/Flash games. Since 2010, Joop is co-founding and CTO at apparel site Unitedstyles.com which is revolutionizing the clothing industry.
In his free time, Joop likes to study Korean and do sports. He blogs about the Internet, Asia and media, with articles published on thenextweb.com and readwriteweb.
